Graduated from Tohoku University School of Medicine, Harvard Graduate School (Public Health), London Graduate School (Medical Anthropology), and Kenya Great Lakes University Graduate School (Community Health).
He worked as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in the Republic of Malawi for three years, providing surgical care, and as a JICA advisor, he provided technical guidance for health projects in over 30 countries, mainly in Africa.
2015 International Committee Member for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2014 Social Business Grand Prix Grand Prize Winner.
Received the Medical Achievement Award in 2016. After serving as a professor at Tokyo Women's Medical University, he took over the Yakushima Onoma Clinic. He is currently promoting the Yakushima Health Zone Initiative Project.
