Forest Therapy Experience with Four Nursing Students | Yakushima Deep Forest Bathing®

— Flow, gap, sky, water, light, sparkle —

NurseThese women, who aspire to be caregivers, found a space in the forest where they could return to themselves.

Four nursing students who came to Yakushima Onoma Clinic for training
They participated in a half-day early morning Deep Forest Bathing®.

My husband runs a clinic that deals with community medical care,
I feel close to the real voices of people in the medical field on a daily basis.

People working in the medical field tend to put off taking time to take care of themselves.
That's why I feel that my time in the forest is meaningful.

Every day, keep an eye on your surroundings,
They are studying with the aim of becoming supportive.

That attitude is very respectable,
That's why this time
Time to take care of yourselfWe valued this.

Forest experience

The program offers a break from the usual hectic pace of the city.
We made an effort to slow down and take time to enjoy our five senses in the forest.

Some people fall into a deep sleep even after the work is over,
Some people had a hard time getting up.

He said he doesn't usually get much sleep.
Moreover, it is a rare experience to be able to sleep deeply in the forest.

After the program in the forest,
The titles of the paintings they each drew are:

  • "Flow"
  • "Gap"
  • "Sky water light"
  • "Sparkling"

Those were the words.

The light filtering through the trees,
The expanse of sky and water,
wind and air flow.

and more than anything,
My thoughts slowed a little,
The feeling of breathing becoming deeper.

Change in impression

In contrast to normally going into nature,
There also seemed to be preconceived notions that it would be tiring and dirty.

But this time, when I entered the forest,
Strangely, no fatigue remains,
He reflected that even getting dirty became a real feeling of coming into contact with nature.

This is not just a refresh,
It was a rediscovery of my relationship with nature.

Experience Integration

After participating, they

  • Make time for digital detox
  • Incorporate nature walks into your daily routine

The intention to act was born.

For those who aspire to become nurses,

Taking care of yourself is also the foundation that supports the quality of care.

Finally

then deep Shinrin-yoku ® is
It's not time to add something outside,

Time to reclaim some space within yourself.

Among these women who will be working in the medical field of the future,
I hope that this experience will continue to live on quietly.

"Next time, I'd like to take the one-day program!" I said, leaving Yakushima.
I'm looking forward to that day too.

*This program is guided by an internationally certified forest therapy guide from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT).
I cherish the time I spend in the forests of Yakushima, opening my five senses and returning to myself.
